Childhood memories are vivid, almost indescribable in their detail, and impossible to forget. A Christmas memory I have is that of a black velvet dress  a family friend gave to me for my seventh Christmas.

And, it is Friday again. No idea where Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday went. You?

But, let’s get started with a fun round-up and move on to the hangueando.

Head on over to say happy 22nd birthday to Ash, a third-generation Mexican American studying journalism, and a really great writer. Today’s essay on her blog, Out of Ash’s, is about the passing of her Abuela.

Patricia Zapata is the author of Home, Paper, Scissors: Decorative Accessories for the Home and the publisher of a wonderful blog, called A Little Hut. Head over there to discover simple, inspiring crafts you can make today. She offers printables, and great explanatory videos on many projects. I love her Recycling category so mucho and her Valentine’s hearts and printables.

The author Alisa Valdes-Rodriguez, who wrote The Dirty Girls Social Club, has released her latest book, All that Glitters, in e-book form only. If you are a frustrated author and have the desire to learn about self-publishing — or get chismes about the allegedly bad job Hollywood has done in bringing Dirty Girls to the small screen — read Alisa regularly.

Speaking of books, here is one with an excellent title: El Cartel de los Sapos 2. Written by Colombian writer Andres Lopez Lopez. It’s about drug mafias and paramilitary groups and the first book soon will be a movie starring the American actor Tom Sizemore. Lopez, by the way, was a cartel insider.

Hey, out January 28 is the movie From Prada to Nada, a modern, Latin take on Jane Austen. It looks sweet and funny and stars Camilla Belle and Wilmer Valderrama. I think I am going to enjoy the rich Mexican-American character who refuses to admit she’s Mexican. You can see the movie trailer on their YouTube page and hang out with them on the Facebook Fan page.

Here in the Boonies we are snowed in today. Again. No excuse for not exercising though, OK? Look what I found: Shape magazine has a whole home routine using just a stability ball. We all have one, don’t we? If not, there are other workouts, including the Sexy Bride. I want a Hot Housewife workout, please!

After a good workout, then it would be OK to eat these Cinnamon Chocolate Churro Cupcakes. Mouth-watering!

Y tu? What are you buzzing about?

Have a tasty, fun, joyful weekend, gente.

Share, por favor!
