The paper products aisle is about to get more festive. Three new Kleenex boxes, designed by Latino artists, hit the shelves this month in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month.
The artists, Jaime Maldonado III, Chicago, Ill.; Paola Lagioia, Doral Fla. (design pictured); Jessica M. DelCarpio, New York, NY.
The three were chosen during a design contest and awarded $5,000. (We’ll be stocking up at our colorful casa.) Click on over to the Con Kleenex site to read more about them, the designs and inspiration.
This week, the internets were en fuego with searches for chupacabra — or “goat sucker” for those of you who no habla.
Seems a taxidermist in Texas presented the mythical beast to the world. Details are here at Yahoo Buzz, some background offered by the Brits and gory CNN video for those of you with strong stomachs.
Why is it that only Latinos report sighting the chupacabra?
And some food for a Friday. Put this brand new Mexican food blog in your bookmarks or reader: The Other Side of the Tortilla, written by Chicago journalist and photographer Maura Hernandez.
It is beautiful and if the first two recipes — salsa verde and cafe de olla — are any indication, it will be a regular must read.
Happy Viva Viernes!
