Del Alma: Change Happens in the Now
Editor’s note: The del alma posts are offered as a quite space to reflect, to stop for just a moment. We recently came across the work of two Venezuelan sisters, both artists, who design for customers and for themselves. We thought our Tiki Tiki readers would enjoy the work. One of the sisters, Dariana, shares the inspiration for her collages.

I’m often inspired by a particular image, texture or color that just strikes me right away. From that moment, I know it’s all going to be designed around that particular concept. However, the inspiration for most of my collages starts with the quotes.
Soy una persona muy espiritual y siempre quiero combinar imagenes que me cautivan con palabras que me motivan. I think words can be such a reminder of what we already know, combined with cute and striking images makes it more memorable.
There is no such a thing as having too much inspiration or positive reminders around us; we can all take advantage of having them as often as possible during our day. I like to be surrounded by pretty designs that transform me into a higher version of myself.
When I create a design, I think to myself that if I enjoy doing this so much and feel so fulfilled, during and after, the process, I know there must be people out there who benefit from my art, making the whole creative cycle complete and revealing one more time that I am only the instrument for all that force to come forward.
Dariana Cruz is paper artist who posts her work on Folklore Eye, the business and blog she runs with her sister, Dariela, a graphic designer. You can read more about the Venezuelan sisters and witness their work on the site.
