¡Rob!, a new show starring Rob Schneider, is about a non-Latino and his new Mexican in-laws. The wife is played by Nadine Velazquez, who is Puerto Rican. Also starring in the CBS comedy is Cheech Martin. ¡Rob! airs on CBS January 12.

The percentage of beauty products used by Latinos is up 41% between 2000 and 2009, while the non-Latino population’s use is up 15%.

Diabetes and Hispanics
An International Diabetes Federation report says that one in 10 adults worldwide – about 522 million people – could have diabetes by 2030. The report also says three new diabetes cases occur every 10 seconds around the world and that the greatest number of people with diabetes are between 40 and 59 years old. In addition, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, diabetes disproportionately affects Hispanics in the United States.
Almost 12 percent of all Hispanics in the United States has diabetes, compared with 8 percent of the total U.S. population, according to the CDC.
Preventing Type 2 diabetes includes maintaining a healthy weight and at least 30 minutes of exercise daily, according to the IDF.
