Giveaway: Bilingual North American Map Puzzle

In my bilingual house in the boonies of Tennessee, we have instilled in our 5-year-old that her learning, and her living, happens in two languages. We have spoken, read, sung, watched, yelled, soothed in Spanish and English since she was born.
When I was growing up in the ’70s and ’80s, there wasn’t so much planning put into my Spanish education. It just happened because that is what the adults spoke to us. If my family had had to rely on books, toys and educational programming to teach me Spanish, they would have been out of luck. How far we’ve come.
Which brings me to this week’s Tiki Tiki giveaway: Ingenio is a new bilingual, educational toy company designed with kids like ours in mind. Chiquiticos who are bilingual, or working at it, from the start.
The Atlanta-based company has created alphabet puzzles, crossword blocks, spelling games, math puzzles and a mini-laptop. Eight of the toys and games are less than $12.99 suggested retail and six have won merit awards from Creative Child Magazine & Dr. Toy.
From the Ingenio site:
“The products are intended to teach a comprehensive range of early learning skills – fine motor, reading, vocabulary, writing, math, problem solving and geography. In addition, a wide range of our bilingual products teach foreign languages such as Spanish.”
You can win the North American Map Puzzle this week. It is more than six square feet when completed, shows all 50 American states and 32 Mexican states, plus all the other North American countries. The pieces are big, perfect for small hands. Retail price is $12.99.
Rules: Visit Ingenio and look around, then come back and tell us what you liked best or go to their Facebook Fan Page and become a fanatico for future updates and offers.
Contest closes Friday, Sept. 11. One entry per person. You must live in the United States or Canada. Winner will be chosen by random and has five days to respond, or be disqualified. The prize will be shipped by Ingenio and the Tiki Tiki is not responsible for the item or delays.

All the toys looked wonderful! Too bad my kids are too big, but my sister has some grandkids who would love this. As a matter of fact, my niece has a preschool in Santo Domingo, and these products would fit in fantastically in her curriculum…bilingual education is very common there. I already emailed her the link to Ingenio’s site. Thank you for making us aware of this fabulous source!

This was very neat! I teach a Spanish class once a week at my kids preschool here in Tallahassee and I am always looking for new and inventive items to use during class.
I think the kids would get a big kick out of the map and the projector! So cool I already bookmarked the site and plan to get a couple of things for Christmas!!

LOVE IT!!! I am always looking for bilingual toys and I’m sick of them only teaching the colors and numbers. There is a lot more to the language and culture people! I hope I win the map, but already I am a fan of the site and will probably buy the spell cards right away.
