Editor’s note: This week on the Tiki Tiki, in honor of Valentine’s Day, five writers finish this sentence “I know love…” Check in for their beautiful, inspiring essays.
I know love. I know it when it is new and hopeful.
I know it in my child, when I held him for the first time and in every moment since then.
I know it in lifelong friendships and in the sacrifices of my parents.
I know it in my sisters, in their unyielding support.
I know it in hardship, in weariness, after battles raged and won, and hurts inflicted and healed.
I know it in terrible darkness, and after, when light breaks through.
I know love can be found where and when you least expect it, and that when it suprises you this way, it is the sweetest kind of love.
And most of all, I know love remains, even when it goes.
